Tie Dye is a partial dyeing method applied to fabrics and yarns.
You get waterproofing part of the surface to be dyed so the color can not penetrate, obtaining designs and color variations because the preserved part keeps the original color, while the exposed takes the new color of the dyeing bath.
Tie Dye socks can only be made with cotton yarn.
There are two different types of dye:
- direct dyeing that requires 3 hours of washing;
- reactive dye that requires 6 hours of washing.
The result is a very complex effects of different shades, tones and intensities of one or more colors.
